Don R. (Dick) Barnes was a four-sport star for the Illinois College football, basketball, baseball and track & field teams starting in the 1950s and again in the 1960s. After starting for three seasons on the baseball, basketball and football teams while pole vaulting for track & field, Barnes took a leave from IC after his junior year in 1956. When he returned to Illinois College it was the Fall of 1963 and he started as a senior defensive back for the Blueboys at the age of 28, recording a three-interception game against Navy Pier that season.
