A key member of the strong Lady Blues’ basketball teams of the mid-1980s, ranks among the all-time NCAA single-season rebound leaders, thanks to her 16.4 rebounds per game average (second in the nation) posted during the 1983-84 season. She set an IC record with 25 rebounds in a game against Monmouth (since broken by Hannah McGinnis). In three seasons with the Lady Blues, Johnson scored 1,147 points to rank seventh among the program’s all-time leading scorers. Her IC teams had a combined 38-26 record and won the South Division of the MWC in 1984-85. To this day, her 345 rebounds in a season are the single-season record at Illinois College. She dominated her sport like few others in Illinois College history. In each of her three seasons, Johnson served as team captain, won MVP honors and was named to the all-conference team. She is also a recipient of the Doris Hopper Award as the top female student-athlete.
