The 1978 Illinois College football team compiled a mark of 8-1 and will be remembered as one of the finest gridiron squads in Hilltop history. Only a late-season loss to Olivet Nazarene prevented Head Coach Joe Brooks’ team from reaching postseason play. The Blueboys defeated Knox, Chicago, Concordia, Culver-Stockton, Iowa Wesleyan, St. Ambrose, Eureka and Principia on the season.
