Bruner Center
Opened in 2003, the Bruner Recreation & Fitness Center is the hub for Illinois College Athletics. Named for the James P. ’66 and Kaye Bruner Family, the Bruner Center is home to all the athletic offices for Illinois College. It also houses Coultas Natatorium (Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving), King Fieldhouse (Indoor Track & Field) and Sherman Gymnasium (Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball).
The Bruner Center is not just for athletics. It also houses the Bellatti and Zelcs Fitness Centers, a fully equipped weight room and fitness areas that is open to the entire IC campus.
Immediately inside the front doors of the complex is the Rammelkamp Concourse, named in honor of Ella Jane Rogers Rammelkamp ’43, which is the main walkway out to England Stadium for football, flag football, soccer and track events. Rammelkamp Concourse overlooks Sherman Gymnasium, providing outstanding views of the action inside as well.
The Bruner Center has hosted a number of large-scale events in its brief history, including Illinois College Commencement Ceremonies and a visit by former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter.
