GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's
Melvin Hodge has been named the Midwest Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week, the league announced today.
A senior from Moro, Ill., Hodge continues to have a strong spring in the hammer throw as he set the school record in the event at the Illinois College Thursday Throwdown last week. His school record throw of 59.82 meters won the event as well. That mark is currently the fourth-best in the nation and the top throw to date in the Midwest Conference.
This is the second consecutive week and third time in his career that Hodge has won the league's weekly honor.
IC will be in action again on Saturday when it travels to the Greenville Select Meet at 10:30 a.m.
