JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's track and field squad opened the outdoor portion of the 2026 season with the Blueboys competing in two meets.
A portion of the squad traveled to Normal, Ill., for the Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational, while another part of the team ventured to Decatur, Ill., for the Big Blue Outdoor Opener.
Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational
Adam Hernandez had a big opening day for IC. He won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.89 seconds and was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 58.62 seconds. Teammate
Jamie Hendrix was fifth in the 400-hurdles in 1:01.59.
IC's
Sam Stimler placed third in the 200 meters in 22.04 seconds while
Kani Carson was fifth in 22.13 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay squad of
Kani Carson,
Ki'on Carson,
Blake Larson, and
Sam Stimler finished third with a time of 42.28 seconds.
Big Blue Outdoor Opener
Melvin Hodge was the lone champion for IC, winning the hammer throw with a toss of 57.11 meters.
Deon Rodgers was fourth at 50.31 meters while
Griffin Martin took fifth with a mark of 46.38 meters. Hodge also took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.65 meters.
Austin Missey finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 12.60 meters, with
Ben Replogle placing fourth in the javelin at 44.14 meters. Martin was close behind in fifth at 39.13 meters.
The Blueboys got a fourth-place finish from Rodgers in the discus (42.77 meters) with Martin in fifth (42.30).
Camden Pierce rounded out IC's top five finishes with a fifth-place showing in the pole vault, clearing 3.30 meters.
Up Next
The Blueboys will host the IC Thursday Throwdown at England Stadium on Thursday. Field events begin at 11:00 a.m. with running events slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
