GRINNELL, Iowa -- Illinois College's
Melvin Hodge has been named the Midwest Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week, the league announced today.
A senior from Moro, Ill., Hodge set a school record in the hammer throw for the third straight week by uncorking the nation's fourth-best toss of the season with a mark of 60.60 meters (198' 10") at the Monmouth Thursday Twilight Special. Hodge then competed at the prestigious Drake Relays on Saturday and placed 15th in the hammer throw with a toss of 58.84 meters.
This is the fourth time in the past five weeks and the fifth time in his career that Hodge has won the league's weekly honor.
