GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's
Melvin Hodge has been named the Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week, the league announced today.
A senior from Moro, Ill., Hodge got his season off to a strong start by setting a school record on opening night at the Illinois Wesleyan First Chance Meet on Friday. Hodge won the weight throw with his school record toss of 18.85 meters (61' 10 1/4"). That mark is the best throw among conference athletes this season. Hodge also finished third in the shot put with a 13.38-meter mark.
The Blueboys will return to action after the holidays when they host the IC Snowbird on January 24th.
