Five Lady Blues Titles at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill.
– The Illinois College women's track and field team boasted five champions at the Fighting Scot Outdoor Invitational on Saturday at April Zorn Memorial Stadium.

Leading the champion list were a pair of double winners. Haley Garrett won both the 100 (12.19 seconds) and 200 meters (22.57 seconds). Her 100 time is the best this season in the Midwest Conference. Aleese Trimingham captured both the 100-meter hurdles (14.91) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.82). Riley Gardner posted the sixth-best jump in the nation to win the high jump, clearing 1.71 meters.

In other track results, IC got second and third place finishes in the 200 meters from McKenzie Murray (25.70 seconds) and Deja Anderson (25.97 seconds), respectively. Murray also took third in the 400 meters (1:01.90), finishing behind teammate Kami Rhoades, who was second in 1:00.44.

The Lady Blues earned second-place finishes in the field events from Natalie Hastings in both the hammer throw (39.12 meters) and discus (45.10 meters). Keyleigh Thomas was second in the javelin with a toss of 39.55 meters. The shot put duo of Delanie Teno (11.14 meters) and Ellie Bartling (10.96 meters) finished third and fourth, while Teno placed fifth in the hammer throw (43.91 meters).

The Lady Blues will defend their outdoor conference title when they compete at the annual Midwest Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday in Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
