Lady Blues Have Four Top Fives at Meet of Champions

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.
–  The Illinois College women's track and field team had strong performances and four top-five finishes at the Augustana Meet of Champions, which concluded on Saturday at the Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The lone event winner for IC on the weekend was Aleese Trimingham, who captured the 100-meter hurdles in a season-best 14.36 seconds. That time is the fastest recorded in the Midwest Conference this season.

The Lady Blues' Keyleigh Thomas was second in the javelin with a throw of 39.70 meters. That toss is the best mark of the season in the conference. Deja Anderson placed third in the long jump, leaping 5.30 meters.

Back on the track, the 4x100-meter relay squad of McKenzie Murray, Haley Garrett, Fynesse Jones, and Anderson took third in 49.35 seconds. 

Jones and Murray also place seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100 meters. Jones finished in 12.65 seconds while Murray came in at 12.66 seconds.

A portion of the Lady Blues will travel to Monmouth for the Monmouth Thursday Night Special. IC will also send competitors to the annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday.
