Blueboys Race Their Way to Five Titles at Green Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.
– Illinois College men's track and field team captured three individual titles and two relay championships during the Jim Green Invitational Saturday at the King Fieldhouse. 

The individual title on the track was won by Adam Hernandez, who took the 60-meter hurdle win with a time of 8.51 seconds. 

The relay champions included the Distance Medley Relay squad of Caden Dettmer, Zachary Wooten, Camden Pierce, and Nick Hannig, who won with a time of 11:19.03. Additionally, the 4x200-meter relay foursome of Kani Carson, Ki'on Carson, Loegon Pete, and Jaden Saunders broke the tape with a time of 1.32.31.

 In the field events, Melvin Hodge earned first place in the weight throw with a toss of 17.26 meters, while Jacob Kollman won the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters. 

Hodge had company in the weight throw as Deon Rodgers was second at 16.69 meters. Hodge also earned fifth place in the shot put with a mark of 14.30 meters. 

On the track, IC's Sam Stimler took second in the 200-meter run with a time of 23.16 while Kani Carson took third in the 60-meter om 7.072 seconds. Robbie Biesenthal also posted a third-place finish in the mile in 4:30.78. Jacob Anderson closed out the top five finishers for IC with a fourth-place effort in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.26 seconds.

Up Next
The Blueboys will make the trip north to Monmouth to compete in the Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday, February 14th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
