Lady Blues Bring Home Five Event Titles at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill.
– The Illinois College women's track and field squad brought home five event winners at the Roger Haynes Invitational at the Huff Athletic Center on Saturday.

In the individual track events, Aleese Trimingham won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.09 seconds.

IC's Deja Anderson was second in the 60-meter hurdles (finishing behind a Division I competitor for Western Illinois) in 7.93 seconds, while Haley Garrett was third in 8.08 seconds. Kami Rhoades finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.41. Garrett came back to finish fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.44 seconds.

The sprint medley team of McKenzie Murray, Rhoades, Ashley Watson, and Caroline Peters won the event in 4:31.97 while the 4x200 squad of Garrett, Fynesse Jones, Murray, and Trimingham was first and posted the league's best time of 1:44.70.

IC also got a fourth-place finish from Kairy Mercado-Ramos in the 3,000 meters (12:22.99)

In the field events, IC had two champions. Deja Anderson won the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters, a season-best and the top distance in the Midwest Conference. The Lady Blues' other field event winner was Riley Gardner, who took the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters.

Anderson was joined in the long jump by Jones, who was third at 5.11 meters. Ellie Bartling was fourth in the shot put at 11.90 meters while Delanie Teno was fifth (11.10 meters). Teno then took fourth in the weight throw (15.25 meters) with Natalie Hasting placing fifth at 15.18 meters.

IC will close out the regular season portion of the indoor season as it hosts the annual Hilltop Classic on Friday at the King Fieldhouse. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
