Final Results
MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois College men's track and field team had six event winners at the annual Roger Haynes Invitational at the Huff Athletic Center on Saturday.
The Blueboys had five individual champions in the track events.
Adam Hernandez uncorked the Midwest Conference's best time in the 60-meter hurdles, posting an 8.43-second effort.
Nick Hannig also won the 5,000 meters in 16:01.67 while
Robby Biesenthal took top honors in the 3,000 meters in 9:06.33.
IC got victories in a pair of relays as well. The sprint medley squad of
Drew Farnsworth,
Simeon Smith,
Loegon Pete, and
Caden Dettmer was victorious in 3:46.25. The 4x200 squad of
Kani Carson,
Ki'on Carson, Hernandez, and
Sam Stimler won in a time of 1:28.50, the fastest time in the league this season, and the school record!
The Carson brothers finished second (Kani in 6.90 seconds) and fourth (Ki'on in 7.07 seconds) in the 60 meters. That duo also went third (Kani in 22.61 seconds) and fifth (Ki'on in 22.81 seconds) in the 200 meters.
IC's
Zac Howard finished fourth in the 3,000 meters in 9:58.24 while
Drew Cushman took fifth in the 400 meters in 52.73 seconds.
The field events were highlighted by a 1-2 sweep in the shot put as
Melvin Hodge took top honors with a 15.44 effort, the second-best mark in the league this season.
Deon Rodgers was second at 15.06 meters. Hodge was also second in the weight throw (17.82 meters) while Rodgers was fourth (16.27 meters).
Jaden Saunders finished third in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.69 meters.

The Blueboys will close out the regular season portion of the indoor season as they host the annual Hilltop Classic on Friday at the King Fieldhouse. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
