Lady Blues Third After Day 1 of MWC Championships

APPLETON, Wis.
– The Illinois College women's track and field squad is in third place after the opening day of the 2025 Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday at Whiting Field on the campus of Lawrence University.

IC has 32 points. Monmouth leads the standings with 67.

The Lady Blues got points from two individuals in three field events. Natalie Hasting took second in the discus with a personal-best toss of 38.66 meters. She also placed sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.29 meters. That mark is also a personal best. IC's other points came in the pole vault, where Maddie Benson finished second, clearing 3.35 meters.

In the preliminaries, IC had two individuals post the top times in their respective events. Aleese Trimingham posted the fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles (14.96 seconds), and Brooke Oakley in the 400 meters (59.33 seconds). Oakley will be joined in the final by Kami Rhoades, who recorded the sixth-best time in the event at 1:00.47.

Trimingham will also advance to the final of the 400-meter hurdles tomorrow as she clocked the second-fastest time of the day (1:05.77). 

IC also advanced four individuals to the final of the 100 meters. Haley Garrett (12.32 seconds) had the second-best time of the day, while Fynesse Jones (12.47 seconds) was fourth, McKenzie Murray (12.47 seconds) was fifth, and Deja Anderson (12.64 seconds) was seventh.
