Doss, Stimler Bring Home Conference Awards, IC Fourth at MWC Championships

MONMOUTH, Ill.
– Illinois College's Dylan Doss was the Athlete of the Year and Sam Stimler was the Newcomer of the Year as the annual Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships wrapped up on Saturday at the Huff Athletic Center.

The Blueboys finished fourth in the team standings with 100.5 points. Cornell won the title with 120.

Doss, who won the long jump on Friday, took the title in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 48.61 seconds. 

Adam Hernandez also won a title as he won the 60-meter hurdles in a quick 8.42 seconds.

The title chase wasn't limited to the individual events as the Blueboys wore the crown in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome of Doss, Jack Bacon, Hernandez, and Stimler broke the tape in 3:23.09.

IC also had a pair of top finishers in the weight throw. Deon Rodgers was the runner-up with a toss of 17.42 meters while Melvin Hodge took fourth with a mark of 16.91 meters.

Jacob Kollman finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.20 meters and the Distance Medley Relay team also put points on the board. The group of Ryan Gerdes, Will Bateman, Caden Dettmer, and Robby Biesenthal finished seventh in 10:58.03.
