Lady Blues Crown Six Champs at Roger Haynes Invitational

MONMOUTH, Ill.
– The Illinois College women's track and field squad crowned six champions at the annual Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday at the Huff Athletic Center.

Leading the individual highlights was the 200-meter dash that saw IC go 1-2-3. Fynesse Jones broke the tape in 26.59 seconds. McKenzie Murray took second in 26.81, and Haley Garrett was third in 26.89.

Aleese Trimingham took the title in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a 9.24-second effort, which is the third-fastest time in school history.  

The Lady Blues also won three relay titles on the day. The 4x200-meter relay team got the victory parade started setting a new school record as Garrett, Brooke Oakley, Jones, and Deja Anderson won in 1:45.20. 

The 4x400-meter relay team of Kami Rhoades, Murray, Trimingham, and Oakley finished first in 4:09.76. The 1,600-meter relay squad of Mady Salisbury, Rhoades, Murray, and Caroline Peters was victorious in 4:30.35.

The victories weren't limited to the track portion of the meet as Anderson took home the title in the long jump with a leap of 5.33 meters.

Maddie Benson took second in the pole vault, clearing 3.22 meters. Salisbury took third in the 60-meter dash in 8.47 seconds as did Peters in the 400-meter dash (1:05.53). Kevlynn DeJaynes rounded out the top five finishers for IC, taking fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.00 meters.

The Lady Blues round out the home portion of the indoor season on Friday when it hosts the annual Hilltop Classic at the King Field House. Meet time is 5:00 p.m.
