MONMOUTH, Ill. – The Illinois College men's track and field squad boasted five champions at the annual Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday at the Huff Athletic Center.
The Blueboys went 1-2 in the 3,000-meter run as
Robby Biesenthal was first setting a new school record with a time of 9:10.40 while
Devin Boggs finished second in 9:25.37.
Adam Hernandez had a strong day, winning the 60-meter hurdles in 8.53 seconds. He then was a part of two victorious relay teams. Hernandez,
Jack Bacon,
Sam Stimler, and
Dylan Doss took home the title in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.74. Hernandez also joined Doss,
Drew Cushman, and Bacon to win the 1,600 sprint medley relay in 3:43.41.Â
Doss also took the title in the long jump with a leap of 6.96 meters.
The 4x200-meter relay squad of Doss,
Ki'on Carson,
Brady Borntreger, and Stimler was second in 1:31.68. Hernandez took third in the high jump, clearing 1.72 meters while
Melvin Hodge was third in the shot put with a toss of 14.14 meters.
Deon Rodgers recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes in the shot put (13.80 meters) and weight throw (16.44 meters).
Caden Dettmer took fifth in the 1-mile run, posting a time of 5:00.74.
