GRINNELL, Iowa – The Illinois College women's track and field team had four individual champions and a victorious relay team as it finished second at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday at the Grinnell Field House.
The Lady Blues scored 111 points to finish second in the 12-team event.
Heading the list of individual champions was double winner
Deja Anderson. Anderson won the 60-meter dash in 7.96 seconds and then took the long jump crown with a leap of 4.99 meters.
Haley Garrett broke the tape first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.32, the first-fastest mark in IC history.
Aleese Trimingham took the crown in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a personal-best 9.33 which is also the third-best time in school annals.
Trimingham then teamed up with
Kami Rhoades,
Apiphany Patterson, and
Brooke Oakley to win the 4x400 meter relay with a school record time of 4:09.32.
Maddie Benson finished second in the pole vault, clearing 3.30 meters. The 1600 sprint medley relay team of
Mady Salisbury, Rhoades,
McKenzie Murray, and
Caroline Peters also recorded a second-place finish with a time of 4:28.00
