CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa –
Bailey Downing posted a top-five time in school history to pace the Illinois College women's cross country team at the Midwest Conference Championships on Saturday at Seminole Valley Park.
IC finished eighth in the team standings.
Downing, a freshman from Harrisburg, Ill., finished first for IC in 24:13.4, the fourth-fastest 6K time in program history. She finished 42nd overall.
The Lady Blues'
Caroline Peters posted a 25:07.4 effort, which is also in the school's all-time top 10 (eighth) en route to a 53rd-place finish.
Kairy Mercado-Ramos was 57th overall in 25:44.1 (which is the 11th-best time in IC history) while
Ashley Watson placed 61st in 26:01.2.
Rounding out the IC performance was
Claire Peters, who went 26:38.07 for 69th place,
Morgan Carrino, who was 71st in 26:45.6, and
Emily Arens, who took 79th in 27:40.
