JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's track & field teams hosted the IC True Blue Open this Friday. The men's team finished fourth with a team score of 81 and the women's team finished fifth with a team score of 54.5.
The team took the time during the meet to honor their seniors.

Lakeida Nichols,

Marissa Sifuentez-Lewis,
Tracy Slater,
Connor Warhausen,
Gretchen Wessel,
Collin White, and
Nyasia Young were all recognized by their families and teammates for their accomplishments and dedication to the IC track & field program.Â
The Blueboys were led by
Saul Hernandez with a first-place finish in the shot put (45' 7.75", 13.91 meters).
Deon Rodgers also had a successful day with a second-place finish in the discus (135' 7", 41.33 meters), and a third-place finish in the shot put (43' 4.5", 13.22 meters). Other significant finishers included a third-place finish by
Elgin Scherff in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:25.09) and a third-place finish by
Max Beyers in the javelin (142' 7", 43.45 meters).Â
The Lady Blues had multiple third-place finishes.
Lakeida Nichols placed third in the 100-meter dash (12.80),
Paige Nowak and
Maddie Benson placed third in the pole vault (9' 8", 2.95 meters), and
Nyasia Young placed third in the triple jump (33' 11.25", 10.34 meters). The 4x400 meter relay team also placed third with a time of 4:13.17.Â
Both track & field teams will return to action traveling to the Greenville Select Meet on Saturday, 4/15 at 11:00 AM.Â
