ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The Illinois College men's and women's track & field team traveled to Wash U to begin their outdoor season. Both teams had some standout individual performances. The Blueboys finished fourth out of six teams and the Lady Blues finished fifth out of five teams.
The Blueboys were led by a first-place finish by
Deon Rodgers in the shot put with a mark of 43' 9" (13.33 meters). Rodgers was also able to place third in the discus throw with a mark of 130' 1" (39.66 meters). Other significant finishers on the men's side included
Collin White placing third in the 400-meter dash (54.47), and
Max Beyers placing third in the javelin (139' 3", 42.44 meters).
The Lady Blues were led by
Paige Nowak and
Maddie Benson placing third in the pole vault after clearing a height of 10' 00" (3.05 meters). Other significant finishers for IC included
Kristina Hilmes placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.38),
Sydney Kuper placing fourth in the hammer throw (133' 8", 40.74 meters), and
Keyleigh Thomas placing fourth in the javelin (102' 1", 31.13 meters).
The teams will continue their outdoor schedule heading back to Wash U for the Wash U Distance Carnival on Friday, 3/31 at 2:00 PM.
