JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's track & field team's hosted their first home meet of the season on Saturday. Both teams had some incredible individual performances.
The highlight of the meet came on the women's side with
Kylie Periman breaking the IC school record in the high jump placing first after clearing a mark of 5'5.25". Periman also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.58. Other significant finishers on the women's side included Madeline Benson placing first in the pole vault (9'8.5"),
Paige Nowak placing second in the pole vault (9'8.5"), and
Nyasia Young placing second in both the long jump (16'1.5") and the triple jump (34'2.25").
On the men's side,
Will Ross was the standout with a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22'1.75". Ross also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.07. Other first-place finishers included
Will Detmer in the 800-meter run (2:02.24) and
Deon Rodgers in the shot put (44'2.5"). Other significant finishers on the men's side included
Gavin Raines placing third in the high jump (6'1.25") and
Devin Boggs placing third in the 3000-meter run (9:29.62).
Both teams will look ahead to compete in the Aurora Grand Prix. The men's team will compete on Friday, 1/27 at 11:00 AM and the women's team will compete on Saturday, 1/28 at 11:00 AM.
