MONMOUTH, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's track & field teams traveled to compete at Monmouth College over the weekend. Both teams placed third out of six teams with the Blueboys totaling a 112 team score and the Lady Blues finishing with a 125 team score.
The Lady Blues earned eight top three finishes on the day and five event wins.
Elizabeth Bowns led the team placing first in the hammer throw (49.84 meters) and the shot put (12.22 meters). Other first place finishers included
Elizabeth Ruvalcaba in the 5000-meter run (21:26.22),
Lakeida Nichols in the 100-meter dash (12.91), and the IC 4x100 meter relay team (49.71).
The Blueboys finished with eight top three finishes and five event wins.
Will Ross was a standout placing first in the triple jump (14.55 meters) and second in the 200-meter dash (22.53). Other first place finishers included
Devin Boggs in the 5000-meter run (16:50.18),
Jackson Lee in the 110-meter hurdles (17.11), and
Gavin Raines in the high jump (1.96 meters).
Both teams will look ahead to compete in the Midwest Conference Championship Meet on Friday, 5/13 and Saturday, 5/14 in Beloit, Wisconsin.
