ROCK ISLAND, Ill.- The men's and women's track & field teams traveled to the Augustana Midwest Twilight Meet on Thursday. Both the men's and women's teams had some spectacular individual performances.
The highlight of the day for the Blueboys was a first place finish by
Will Ross in the triple jump with a season best mark of 49-3.75 (15.03 meters). This ranks him first overall in the IC school record book in the event beating the previous mark by almost two feet. Other significant finishers for the men included
Marshall Brown placing 25th in the 200-meter dash (23.25) and 28th in the 400 meter dash (52.42).
On the women's side, IC was led by
Kristina Hilmes who finished ninth overall in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.82) and 16th in the 100-meter hurdles (16.47). Other standouts included
Elizabeth Bowns placing 11th in the hammer throw (153-5, 46.77 meters), and
Maddie Benson placing 13th in the pole vault (9-8.5, 2.96 meters).
Both teams will look to see if their athletes have met the mark to qualify for the NCAA DIII Oudoor Championship on Thursday 5/26 to Saturday, 5/28.
