Men's and Women's Track & Field Open Outdoor Season at Wash U

ST. LOUIS, Mo.- The Illinois College men's and women's track & field teams opened up their outdoor season on the road at Washington University in St. Louis this weekend. The team faced some challenging competition. 

The Lady Blues earned five top three finishes in the meet. The team was led by Elizabeth Bowns placing second in the hammer throw (45.03 meters, 147-09) and the shot put (11.72 meters, 38-5.5). Ronnautica Dixon earned a second place finish as well in the triple jump with a mark of 31-10.25 (9.71 meters). Other top three finishers included Renee Hartman in the shot put (35.63 meters, 116-11) and Kristina Hilmes placing third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.92).

The Blueboys earned two top three finishes. IC was led by Hayden Graham in the triple jump placing third with a mark of 37-11.25 (11.56 meters). Jackson Lee earned a third place finish as well in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.79. Other significant finishers for the men included Ian Cherry placing fourth in the pole vault (3.6 meters, 11-9.75) and Gavin Raines placing sixth in the high jump (1.85 meters, 6-00.75).

Both the men's and women's team will travel back to Wash U to compete in the Wash U Distance Carnival on Friday, 4/1.
