JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's track and field teams hosted the Jim Green Invitational this Saturday. Both teams were able to walk away with a second place finish out of the eight teams competing.Â
The Lady Blues were led by
Elizabeth Bowns in the field events. Bowns broke her own school record in the weight throw placing first overall with a mark of 52-7.5 (16.04-meters). She was also able to earn a second place finish in the shot put with a mark of 38-10.54 (11.85-meters). She was followed by
Renee Hartman who also had an outstanding performance in the throwing events. She placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 49-9.64 (15.18-meters) which ranks third all-time in the IC record books. Hartman also finished third in the shot put with a mark of 37-10.72 (11.55-meters).
Other significant finishes for the Lady Blues included
Maddie Benson placing first in the pole vault after clearing a height of 9-8.54 (2.96-meters). This mark ranks third all-time in the record book. IC also earned a first place finish in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:54.63.
The Blueboys were led by
Will Ross who finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 45-4.49 (13.83-meters). The Blueboys also finished first in the 4x200-meter relay (1:36.30) and the distance medley (11:26.03). Other significant finishers included
Ian Cherry placing third in the pole vault after clearing a height of 13-7.78 (4.16-meters), and
Jackson Lee placing second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.09.Â
Both the men's and women's track & field teams will compete next traveling to Monmouth College on Friday, 2/11 at 10:30 AM.Â
