GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College women's track & field team traveled to compete in the MWC Championship this weekend hosted by Knox College. The Lady Blues were able to earn a fifth-place finish as a team.
IC was able to total seven top five finishes in the meet. The team was led by
Elizabeth Bowns placing first in the shot put (12.52 meters, 41-1.0) and second in the weight throw (15.34 meters, 50-4.0).
Renee Hartman was also able to represent the Lady Blues in the throwing events placing third in the shot put with a mark of 12.32 meters.
The Lady Blues also saw success in the pole vault.
Paige Nowak and Madeline Benson earned a fourth and fifth place finish both clearing a height of 3.07 meters, 10-0.87. This mark ranks second overall in the IC school record books.Â
IC was represented in the running events by
Kristina Hilmes earning a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (10.54). The 4x200-meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 1:50.72.
The team will look ahead to compete in the last chance meet on Friday, 3/4 and Saturday, 3/5.
