Blueboys Track & Field Place 6th at MWC Championship

GALESBURG, Ill.- The Illinois College men's track & field team traveled to compete in the MWC Championship this weekend hosted by Knox College. The Blueboys were able to earn a sixth-place finish as a team. IC student-athlete Will Ross was named MWC Newcomer of the Year.

IC totaled nine top five finishes in the meet. The team was led by Will Ross placing first in the triple jump (14.31 meters, 46-11.5) and third in the long jump (6.96 meters 22-9.75). Gavin Raines was able to put together a second-place performance in the high jump clearing a height of 1.89 meters, 6-2.25.

The Blueboys were represented by Caleb Steber and Jackson Lee in the running events. Steber placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.96. Lee earned a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.37.  

The rest of the Blueboys top five finishes came from their relay teams. The 4x200-meter relay team placed third (1:32.6), the 4x400-meter relay team placed fourth (3:32.97), the 1600 sprint relay medley placed fifth (3:50.00), and the distance medley team placed fourth (11:12.46).

The team will look ahead to compete in the last chance meet on Friday, 3/4 and Saturday, 3/5.
