GRINNELL, Iowa- The Midwest Conference has announced its Performers of the Week award recipients. Illinois College took both the conference weekly awards with
Abbie Horstmann being named Offensive Performer of the Week and
Jen Humbolt received Defensive Performer of the Week.
The Lady Blues had a strong week of competition going 2-1 against MWC competitors. The team suffered a loss to Cornell early in the week and then earned wins against Monmouth College and Knox College.
Horstmann was able to make a large impact for the Lady Blues. She totaled 26 kills with only seven errors on 68 attempts. This totaled an impressive hitting percentage of .306. Horstmann also recorded six total blocks in the three matches.
Humbolt had some record breaking performances in IC's three matches. She now ranks fifth in the IC record book after recording 39 digs in a single match against the Fighting Scots. This ranks second best in all of NCAA Division III for total digs in a three set match so far this season. Humbolt totaled 99 digs over the course of the three matches.
The Lady Blues will travel to take on the Fontbonne University Griffins on Thursday, 10/14 at 7:00 PM.
