JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Josh Alcala has been named the new assistant coach for men's and women's soccer at Illinois College. Alcala joins IC after completing a graduate assistantship position at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside for the past two seasons.
A four-year soccer player at the University of South Carolina, Alcala earned all-conference honors in Conference USA and played in three NCAA Tournaments. After his collegiate career, he played professionally for Crystal Palace FC (Baltimore) and the Austin Aztex in the United Soccer League.
Following his playing career, Alcala moved into the private sector for a few years. He began his coaching career in 2015 and then left the Austin area, becoming a head coach for the club program Chicago Fire Juniors in 2017. He spent 2017 as an assistant coach at Purdue University-Northwest before joining UW-Parkside for the past two years.
Alcala graduated from South Carolina in 2006 with a degree in Media Arts. He will be graduating from Parkside in May with a Master's degree in Sport Management.
