GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's
Jordan Closs has been named the Midwest Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league announced today.
A senior from Niantic, Ill., Closs helped fuel IC to an opening 4-0 record in Midwest Conference play over the weekend. In her two starts in the circle, she tossed 12 innings, allowing no runs, three hits, and recording five strikeouts while opponents hit .088. On Friday against Lawrence, Closs tossed a five-inning no-hitter with three strikeouts. In her Saturday win over Ripon, she recorded a three-hit shutout with two strikeouts.
This is the sixth time in her IC career that Closs has earned the league's weekly honor.
The Lady Blues (17-9 overall, 4-0 in Midwest Conference action) will travel to Beloit for a MWC doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
