DES MOINES, Iowa – The Illinois College track and field program had a top-five finish and set a pair of school records to highlight its first day at the Drake Relays on Friday at Drake Stadium.
In Friday's evening session, the men's 4x200-meter relay team of
Kani Carson,
Simeon Smith,
Adam Hernandez, and
Sam Stimler clocked a school-record time of 1:26.20 to finish second in the heat and fifth overall.
Earlier in the day, the 4x100-meter relay team of
Ki'on Carson,
Kani Carson,
Blake Larson, and Stimler posted a 41.84 effort (which is the best time of the year in the Midwest Conference) and finished fifth in its heat and 13th overall.
On the women's side, the 4x100-meter relay team of
McKenzie Murray,
Haley Garrett,
Fynesse Jones, and
Deja Anderson opened the day with a 48.33-second showing and was fifth in its heat and 19th overall.
Later in the day, the Lady Blues' 4x200-meter relay squad of Murray, Jones, Garrett, and
Aleese Trimingham posted the school record time of 1:41.56 to place third in the heat and 14th overall.
