JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College esports Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team came up short in the NECC Championship, falling 0–2 to the University of Michigan-Flint. The Blueboys dropped a tight opening game 2-0 before narrowly losing Game 2, 1-0, to finish as runners-up.

Jake Petrovich led Illinois College with eight stocks taken and a 1.33 K/F ratio, while Adam Byrd added a balanced six-stock effort. Julian Luaders chipped in five stocks, but the Blueboys were unable to match Michigan-Flint's consistency across the lineup.

The Blueboys will now turn their attention to nationals, looking to regroup and make one final push for a title this season.
