JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College esports program concluded NECC Rocket League play Wednesday night with a 4-0 series loss to Drury University.
Drury claimed the opener 3-1 before edging the Blueboys in a tightly contested Game 2 by a 4-3 margin. Illinois College continued to battle but fell 2-0 in Game 3 and 3-1 in Game 4 to close out the series.
Despite the result, Illinois College generated strong offensive pressure throughout the match. Lucas Barry led the team with three goals and 15 shots while anchoring the defense with 16 saves. Dwight Duijneveld added two goals and one assist to go along with nine saves and 11 shots. Loegon Pete facilitated the offense with three assists and contributed eight saves.
With the loss, Illinois College wraps up NECC regular season competition. The Blueboys are likely to qualify for nationals based on point totals accumulated throughout the season, though official standings and confirmation have not yet been released.
