GRINNELL, Iowa – Nathan Walker has been named the Midwest Conference Baseball Positional Player of the Week, the league announced today.
The weekly honor marks the first Midwest Conference Player of the Week recognition of Walker's career.
Walker, a junior for the Blueboys, earns the weekly honor after a strong week at the plate across five games for Illinois College.
Walker finished the week 8-for-21 (.381) while scoring nine runs and driving in five RBIs. He also recorded three extra-base hits, including two home runs and a triple.
His best performance came against Westminster, where he went 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run, helping lead the Blueboys offensively. Walker continued to contribute throughout the week, reaching base consistently and playing a key role in multiple Illinois College scoring rallies.
The Blueboys will open Midwest Conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader against Beloit College at Joe Brooks Field, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
