JACKSOVILLE, Ill. - Illinois College Esports split a pair of matches Friday night, earning a 2-0 win in MVEC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate over the University of Jamestown before dropping a 0-3 NECC Overwatch series to Indiana University Kokomo.
In MVEC SSBU play, the Blueboys delivered a strong performance, winning Game 1 by a 5–0 score before closing the match with a 3–2 victory in Game 2. Illinois College won seven of the eight individual matchups in the series.
The deciding moment came in Game 2 with the match tied 2–2, when Devin Ussery stepped up as the team's anchor and secured the final point to clinch the sweep. The victory keeps Illinois College in a strong position for conference tournament seeding, with a path to the No. 2 seed depending on results elsewhere in the MVEC.

Later in the evening, Illinois College faced one of the top teams in the NECC Overwatch standings, falling 0-3 to Indiana University Kokomo.
IC battled in a tight opening map on Ilios, narrowly losing 2-1, and nearly evened the series on Watchpoint Gibraltar before falling 4-3. Kokomo sealed the match with a 1-0 win on Colosseo.
Dwight Duijneveld led Illinois College with a strong performance throughout the series, recording 66 eliminations and a 3.32 KDA, but the Blueboys were unable to convert several close maps into wins.
