ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Illinois College freshman Macie Petropoulos has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Women's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Petropoulos made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut at the Highland Championships, finishing in a tie for second place individually. She opened the tournament with a three-over 75 before following it with a 77 to close at eight-over par for the event. Her two-round total of 152 not only placed her among the tournament's top performers but also etched her name into the Illinois College record book.
Her 75 in the opening round ranks as the ninth-lowest single round in program history, while her 152 total stands as the fourth-best 36-hole score all-time. Behind her steady play, the Lady Blues secured a fifth-place team finish to open the season.
The Springfield, Illinois native becomes the first Illinois College golfer to earn SLIAC weekly honors this season.
Illinois College returns to action on Monday, September 8, at Jacksonville Country Club for the Country Club Classic beginning at 10:00 a.m.
