JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- Tayvonne Landry has been named an assistant track and field coach for the Illinois College men's and women's programs, it was announced today by Head Coach
Dirk Doehring.
Landry brings a myriad of experiences and accolades to the Hilltop. At the collegiate level, he has served as an assistant coach at Kentucky Christian University, Indiana University - East, and Kansas Northwest Technical College. Landry has also been the head track and field coach at Edwardsville High School, as well as an assistant at Carbondale High School on the prep level.
The 2023 Alton Telegraph Track Coach of the Year at Edwardsville, Landry has also coached NJCAA cross country half-marathon runners-up, an NJCAA cross country national champion, three u20 qualifiers, five USATF individual national champions, 24 IHSA all-state performers, 60+ IHSA state qualifiers, 30+ USATF national qualifiers, and a pair of IHSA state champions.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Tayvonne to IC," Doehring said. "His previous experiences at the college and high school levels as both a head coach and assistant, as well as his background working with multiple different event areas, will be invaluable in helping to continue to build upon the success of the programs. His connections that he will bring with him from all over Southern Illinois will surely pay off on the recruiting trail as well."
A Chicago native who owns a USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification, Landry competed at Southern Illinois University and was a member of the 2015 Missouri Valley Conference team champions. He earned his degree from SIU in 2019.
