JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Illinois College Baseball has added Tristan Camp to its coaching staff, as announced by Head Coach Jacob Waddle last week.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Tristan Camp to Illinois College," Waddle said. "He has experience as a player at multiple levels of collegiate athletics and has coached a wide range of student athletes. Our pitching staff benefited from his individualized approach to coaching. His combination of technology and analytics for decision making, along with a hard-nosed work ethic, will help our program tremendously. He also brings a number of connections with him from the St. Louis area, which will surely pay off on the recruiting trail."
A native of Montgomery City, Missouri, Camp brings a diverse background of playing and coaching experience to the Hilltop. He began his collegiate playing career at Arkansas State University before completing his undergraduate degree at Mars Hill University. He later attended graduate school at Crown College, where he helped lead the team to a UMAC Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance in 2024.
After his playing career, Camp was elevated to Head Assistant Coach at Crown College in July 2024. In his first season, his pitching staff achieved one of the best statistical years in program history, posting the second-lowest ERA ever recorded at Crown and ranking among the top 100 in NCAA Division III in ERA, strikeouts per nine innings (K/9), and strikeout-to-walk ratio (K/BB).
Most recently, Camp spent the summer coaching in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League with the Muskegon Clippers.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Integrated Health Sciences with a minor in Exercise and Wellness Promotion and is on track to complete his master's degree in Sports Coaching and Administration this August.
