Men's Swimming & Diving Sets Two Relay School Records at the MWC Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa
– The Illinois College men's swimming and diving team broke a pair of school records in the relay events on Friday at the Russell K. Osgood Pool and Deck/Natatorium.

The afternoon preliminary session saw Eli Eberle set the school record in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a 21.41-second performance. 

Scottie Nicotra recorded the third-best effort in the program's history in the 200IM when he recorded a 1:58.37.

The evening session saw the 200-yard freestyle team of Eberle, Scott Sosnowski, Nicotra, and Nathen Trachta set the school record with a time of 1:28.27. The 400-yard medley relay team of John Masiliunas, Cooper Meyer, Eberle, and Nicotra set the school record in 3:33.44.

Meyer came back to finish third in 3-meter diving with the second-best score in school history with his 293.80.

Trachta finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:55.37. Nicotra returned in the evening and improved his 200 IM time from the morning by over a second and finished fourth overall. His time of 1:57.16 is the third-fastest in program history.
