Blueboys Finish Fifth at MWC Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa
– The Illinois College men's swimming team finished fifth at the 2025-26 Midwest Conference Championships, which wrapped up on Sunday at the Russell K. Osgood Pool on the campus of Grinnell.

IC had a trio of individuals earn two top 10 finishes. 

Scottie Nicotra was second in the 400-yard IM (4:08.55) and was 10th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.98 seconds). John Masiliunas took third in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.93) and 10th in the 100-yard backstroke (54.46 seconds). Lucas Sullens was eighth in both the 400-yard IM (4:21.53) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.09).

IC's Cade Emerick finished ninth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 17:34.11.

The Blueboys also had a pair of relay teams finish fifth on the final day of competition. The 400-yard medley relay squad of Nathen Trachta, Sullens, Gavin Rasmusen, and Nicotra posted a time of 3:39.35, while the 400-yard freestyle team of Nicotra, Trachta, Masiliunas, and Rasmusen finished in 3:15.79.
