JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College Esports program enjoyed a standout night of competition on October 28, earning convincing victories in both NECC Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and MVEC Valorant play.
In Smash Bros, IC swept Roosevelt University 2–0 in a commanding performance that showcased the team's depth and precision. The Blueboys and Lady Blues stormed through Game 1 with a 4–0 win before closing out the series 6–0 in Game 2. Julian Luaders led the way with seven KOs and a 3.50 K/F ratio, while Alex Rhoades, Devin Ussery, and Raiden Sedelmeier each added consistent efforts with 1.67 ratios apiece.
The team's dominance was so complete that they didn't even need to use star player Jake. Rhoades continued his steady improvement and became just the third player in program history to maintain a career K/F ratio above 1.0, joining Jake and Luaders. Luaders also reached a milestone, improving his career mark to a perfect 2.0—the highest in team history.
