GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College's
Stella Gonzalez has been named the Midwest Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league today.
A sophomore goalkeeper from Hampton, Ill., Gonzalez posted a pair of victories in net as IC went 2-0 in the week to clinch the program's first-ever Midwest Conference Tournament berth with wins at Monmouth and Grinnell. In the win at Monmouth, she posted nine saves and followed that with a shutout in the win at Grinnell while recording six saves.
IC is back in action on Saturday when it concludes the regular season with a Midwest Conference home match against Lawrence that kicks off at 11:00 a.m.
