JACKSONVILLE, Ill- The Illinois College Esports team fell short in two UCL playoff matches for SSBU and Valorant on Friday night. The night began with an SSBU match against Mount Saint Mary's, where IC fell 8-0. Next, IC faced Glenville State in Valorant but was defeated 2-0.
Match 1: MSMU 8 IC 0
During the regular season for SSBU, MSMU forfeited this match to IC so this was the first time they had seen each other play. MSMU came out very strong and send our a R.O.B player who defeated
Matt Hallanger and
Julian Luaders, but
Jake Petrovich was able to come in and defeat the R.O.B. After that, MSMU sent in a payer named EnhancedPV who sits just outside of the top 100 players in the world and one of the best Cloud players in the world and defeated
Jake Petrovich.Â
With this loss, IC finished in 4th place for the MEC (UCL) SSBU season and will look to come back for the spring season.Â

IC had defeated Glenville State three times during the season going into the match, but was ultimately defeated in a tight match to advance to the finals.
Dwight Duijneveld led the attack with 65 kills on the match and a 2.77 KDA, but Glenville State played one of their best matches of the year to defeat IC and move to the Finals.Â
This loss gave IC a 3rd place finish for the MEC (UCL) season and will look to bounce back for the MVEC season beginning in January.Â
