JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Illinois College volleyball team opened Midwest Conference play hosting Lawrence University Friday night. The Lady Blues defeated the Vikings in straights sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-12) to improve to 6-0 at home. IC now stands at 8-8 overall and 1-0 in the MWC.
IC was led on offense by
Paige Knuffman with a game-high 10 kills while
Ligaya Garibay contributed nine.
Ella Middleton led the Lady Blues with four service aces while
Summer Brandis led IC with 24 assists while adding three service aces.
Defensively, IC has two student-athletes record double-figure dig marks led by Middleton with 11 as Garibay collected 10 digs.
Alyssa Burglund recorded the only block for IC in the match.
For the match, IC recorded 26 more kills than Lawrence and had a hitting percentage of 21 percent.
The Lady Blues return to MWC play hosting Ripon College on Saturday, September 30 at 1:00 PM in Sherman Gymnasium.
