IC Esports Hosts Doubleheader at Unified Gaming Fanfest

2/12/2023 8:00:00 PM

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Esports team hosted the Unified Gaming Fanfest over the weekend. The team hosted two live competitions against Drury University and Ohio Northern University.

At IC's first home LAN event, the Blueboys were matched up against Drury University on day one. Drury came out strong in the first game and gained a 4k gold lead at the 15 minute mark largely off the back of top laner "Mastermind". The game was a 45 minute back and forth brawl with Drury coming out on top.

In game two, IC showed up with a gold lead and a dragon lead at the 8-minute mark. This was before the Drury Panthers took over topside and got their top laner "Mastermind" ahead. Much like game one, the second game lasted 40+ minutes and ended with some epic team fights that went in the way of the Panthers.

On day two IC took on Ohio Northern in their home gym. ONU came out on top after two short games by outplaying IC in most areas of the map. Jungler Peter Foreman "255" was able to find some solid early game plays on the Maokai, but ultimately it wasn't enough for IC to ever find a meaningful advantage. Game two was even less hopeful than game one as IC went with a risky draft strategy that left their players unable to have any control of the game.
