NCAA Tournament Preview: Illinois College vs. Alma College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College softball team is set to take on Alma College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Blues will travel to Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. for the NCAA Division III Softball Regional this Friday, 5/13. This is the Lady Blues second NCAA Tournament appearance in back to back season. 

The tournament is open to the public with tickets costing five dollars per game for fans of all ages. Children under two are free. Tickets will go on sale each day starting one hour prior to the first game. The stands will be cleared folowing each game to ensure that fans can see their favorite team. Fans can buy tickets for all games on a given day when the ticket booths open.

Illinois College Lady Blues News and Notes:

* IC advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row after defeating Grinnell College to claim the 2022 Midwest Conference (MWC) title.
* The Lady Blues stand at 22-12-1 overall and 12-3-1 in the MWC.
* The team recieved five All-Conference honorees in Emma Newton, Madisyn Webster, Grace Braun, Annie Schimpf, and Sydney Hood.
* Newton leads the Lady Blues and the conference with a .467 batting average. She is now the school record holder for most doubles in a season with 15. 
* Webster leads the conference and the team with 44 runs scored this season. She is also the new school record holder with 35 stolen bases in a single season which leads the MWC this year.  
* Hood has been the Lady Blues ace in the circle leading the conference with a 2.36 ERA and ranking second in the conference with 108 strikeouts. 

Alma College Scots News and Notes:
* Alma College advanced to the NCAA Tournament earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Softball Regional. 
* Alma finished fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) falling to Trine University and Hope College in the conference tournament.
* The Scots finished the year with an overall record of 25-13 and a conference record of 12-4. 
* The team recieved five All-Conference honorees in Emma Fraser, Hailey Ullrich, Hannah Falejczyk, Taylor Griffith, and Daniella Little. 
* Ullrich leads the team and the conference with a .477 batting average, 13 home runs, and 44 runs batted in. 
* Ullrich is also the leading pitcher for the Scots leading the conference with two saves and 155 strikeouts.
