ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Illinois College softball team capped off a historical season by splitting two games at the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Regionals on Friday at the WashU Softball Field.
IC opened the day by beating Capital, 6-4, to record the second NCAA Regional win in program history. Later in the day, the Lady Blues were eliminated by seventh-ranked WashU, 4-3.
IC concludes its record-setting season with a sparkling 34-12 record.Â

The Lady Blues got off to a fast start, scoring the first six runs of the game. The scoring started with a pair of runs in the first inning when
Alivia Darbe's double scored
Maddie Adams. Darbe eventually scored on
Shelby Seiler's single.Â
IC added three runs in the second inning.
Gabby Miller's two-run single plated Adams and
Ezzy Mauermann before Miller would come around to score on a Capital wild pitch. Mauermann would close out the IC scoring in the fourth when she scampered home on another Comet wild pitch.
Capital would cut the deficit to two after scoring four times in the sixth, but IC was able to shut them down in the seventh to secure the second NCAA Regional win in program history.
The Lady Blues'
Cambria Currie was stellar in the circle, working 6.1 shutout innings, allowing just three hits with three strikeouts. Darbe was the only IC player with multiple hits, with two, including her double in the opening frame.

After three innings of scoreless softball, the Bears scored the first three runs of the game – plating two in the fourth and one in the fifth before the Lady Blues came roaring back.Â
IC scored twice in the fifth, thanks to a Darbe double that scored Miller and a
Brooke Loveall two-bagger that drove home Darbe. The Lady Blues tied the contest in the sixth when Shelbie Seiler reached on a WashU error that scored Mauermann.
WashU grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh when Kristina Donaldson hit her second home run of the game to provide the winning margin.
Once again, Darbe paced the Lady Blues' offense with a pair of hits including a double. Currie suffered the loss in the circle, working 3.2 innings in relief of
Jordan Closs. Currie allowed three runs on three hits.
Blue Notes
The Lady Blues' 34 wins eclipsed the previous school record by nine victories… IC finished the season having won 21 of its last 24 contests… the Lady Blues are now 2-6 in NCAA Regional play… this was IC's first regional appearance since 2022 and the third in program history… IC has won a game in two of its three regional appearances.
