Box Score 2 APPLETON, Wis.- The Illinois College Blueboys baseball traveled to face Lawrence University on Sunday in a doubleheader. The team suffered losses in both games dropping their record to 8-16 overall and 3-6 in the MWC.
GAME 1- Illinois College 12, Lawrence University 23
Both teams showed their fire power in the first game of the day. The teams both shined offensively in a high scoring shoot out. Lawrence jumped to a 6-0 lead after the first two innings. The Blueboys were able to answer back with some strong hitting.
Griffin King,
James Marcinkowski,
Peyton Abbott, and
Cullen McBride all hit homers to bring the Blueboys back into the game. IC led 11-6 going into the bottom of the fifth. Lawrence was able to pull away with some explosive offense of their own. The team scored 11 runs across the sixth and seventh innings to claim the win in game one over IC.
John Fink suffered the loss at the mound pitching 0.2 innings with one strikeout.
GAME 2- Illinois College, Lawrence University
The Blueboys started the second game with a three run home run by
Kellen Blum to put the team ahead 3-1 in the top of the second inning. Lawrence would answer with a home run of their own to tie the game at 3-3.
Kellen Blum gave the Blueboys the lead once again with a single in the top of the fourth bringing in a run by
Griffin King. This would not be enough as the Vikings would take the win after finishing the game with four unanswered runs.
Christian Stawar suffered the loss at the mound pitching 5.0 innings with six strikeouts.
IC will look ahead to host University of Chicago on Friday, 4/15 at 2:00 PM.
