DECATUR, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys and Lady Blues track and field teams competed in the Big Blue Open at Millikin University over the weekend. The women's team earned a fifth place finish while the men's team took sixth place.
The women's team was able to achieve five top three finishes in the meet. In the field events,
Elizabeth Bowns was able to take first place in the shot put with a mark of 12.28-meters. This mark by Bowns leads the MWC and places her fourth all-time in the IC record books.
Renee Hartman would finish right behind her for a second place finish in the same event with a mark of 11.76-meters.
Emily Woods would earn an event win as well taking first place in the long jump with a mark of 5.32-meters.
In running events the Lady Blues were represented by
Olivia Frichtl with a third place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.02. The 4x400-meter relay team of
Kristina Hilmes, Woods, Frichtl, and Brianna Wallace was able to finish third in the competition with a time of 4:17.13.
On the men's side,
Gavin Raines would represent the Blueboys with a third place finish in the high jump clearing 1.93-meters.
Dalton West would earn a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.11-meters. In the running events
Jack Douglas would make his mark with a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash finishing with a time of 11.13.
The men's and women's track and field teams will compete next in the IC True Blue meet on Saturday, 5/1 at 10:30 AM.
